![]() ![]() There are multiple sources to pull from for the story of the Ghorman Massacre in live-action, but it’s the Legends take that could work best here because it sparks the formation of the Rebellion. Tying this to Andor, Forest Whitaker is confirmed to reprise his role as Saw. One of the survivors of the Ghorman Massacre in the Legends stories is the character Magva Yarro, who joins Saw Gerrera’s Partisans and appears in live-action during Rogue One (played by Sabine Crossen). The character had a fleshed out backstory in animated shows including The Clone Wars, Rebels, and The Bad Batch, while also appearing in Rogue One with the digital likeness of Cushing and Guy Henry for the physical and vocal performance. With implied permission from Emperor Palpatine, Tarkin lands his ship on the protestors and kills hundreds of them.Tarkin is a big deal in the world of Star Wars, and was famously played by Peter Cushing in A New Hope. The Rebel Alliance Sourcebook explains how the people of Ghorman rebelled against the Empire’s tyrannical dictatorship and held a peaceful protest in front of Tarkin’s warship. ![]() The Ghorman Massacre is referenced in the Star Wars Rebels’ episode “Secret Cargo,” where Mothma denounces Palpatine as an “lying executioner,” flees with the crew of the Ghost, and later broadcasts a message that she’ll fight for the Rebellion on the front lines.Īs for how Grand Moff Tarkin fits into all this, the first mention of the Ghorman Massacre goes back much further into Legends canon. Assuming the dwindling Senate turns its attention to what’s going on with the Rebel insurgency, things on Ghorman are only going to get worse – leading to a major event known as the Ghorman Massacre. It’s clear the Senate is pretty empty these days, but there’s every chance Moore is there. Mothma showed her distaste for the guestlist because Moore and the rest of the guests cut off the shipping lanes to Ghorman. Moore has already been mentioned as a dinner party guest of Mon Mothma’s husband, Perrin (Alastair Mackenzie). You might remember her for her terrifying look in the prequels, where she was played by Sandi Finlay. For those who need a refresher, Sly Moor is the Force adept Umbaran who sits next to Emperor Palpatine as his Chief of Staff. This “boot to the throat of all Ghormans” is seemingly a nod to both Sly Moore and Grand Moff Tarkin. Although we don’t get to learn whether Mothma’s bill to protect this “peaceful and faithful ally” gets passed, the mere mention of Ghorman sets up the return of two former Star Wars villains. As the news ripples through the Galactic Senate, Mon Mothma (Genevieve O’Reilly) talks about the planet Ghorman and how the Empire is taking away its people’s rights by cutting off trade. ![]() “The Eye” rounds off with news that 80 million credits have been stolen from underneath the Empire’s nose. We’re at the midway point of Season 1 of Tony Gilroy’s Andor, and while most of the action has been focused on an Ocean’s Eleven-inspired heist of an Imperial payload on Aldahni, it’s important to pay attention to what’s been going on in other corners of the galaxy.
